16' 1987 Walter Walker Canoe. Longitudinal Cedar Strip Construction 1/4" Cedar strips on 5/8" half round hardwood ribs spaced 2 1/2" centres, copper nail fastened, 7/8" tapered keel, 30" beam, 3 thwarts, floorboards, varnished inside and outside.
Similar to "English" model by Peterborough Canoe Co. Bow and stern profiles also resemble a Lakefield canoe. Built on a Peterborough mold by Walter Walker, a renowned master craftsman who spent a near lifetime working for Peterborough Canoe Co. This canoe built during his retirement. In water 2 times. New condition. Always kept indoors. Absolutely beautiful. A fine example of classic construction used by noted manufacturers for 140 years.
